The Leprechaun
Leprechaun 4: In Space is the sleeper of the Leprechaun horror movie series. Yes, it's set in space, but that's exactly what makes it so mind-numbingly great. Leprechaun 4 is a perfect example of how to take a totally ridiculous premise and turn it into something really "special." The movie is chock-full of practical effects, creative kills, and Leprechaun quotes that will have you rolling on the floor. If you're a fan of Leprechaun movies or horror movies in general, Leprechaun 4: In Space is a must-watch.
Pinhead
The series' prequel and continuation is titled Hellraiser: Bloodline. the years 1700, 1990, and 2200. I didn't had high hopes for the fourth episode since I mostly watch it for Pinhead and the Cenobites. There's something cold, scary, and diabolical about Doug Bradley. Who cares if it's difficult to grasp and makes no sense? Even if you've seen Hellraiser, you should see Bloodline since Pinhead's moments are so horrifying. This book should be read by everyone who liked Hellraiser or other Clive Barker works. It's an interesting journey even without any reasoning.
Critters
The idea of Critters 4 taking place in outer space piqued my interest. I mean, how could they possible beat the previous Critters movies? But then I saw the cast list and (Critters 4) it simply didn't seem promising. Brad Dourif? Is that Angela Bassett? Anders Hove, the well-known Danish actor? This was never going to work for me.
And when I eventually watched Critters 4, my suspicions were validated. The premise was horrible, the characters were bad, and it was just a rip-off of other brands placed in a lousy setting. What truly irritates fans is that the elements that made prior editions distinctive and amusing have been either totally removed or are not there at all. Critters 4 is a total disaster and a major letdown.
Dracula
Dracula 3000 is one of the few awful horror films that are so horrible that they are almost unwatchable. I like hating Dracula 3000. Even though it's terrible for the whole of its runtime, the finale was a horrible cop-out that left me completely unhappy. Instead of being so awful it's good, "Dracula in Space" was so bad it's dreadful. The notion is entertaining, but the acting is poor and the conversation is intolerable. I suggest seeing it if you want to feel unhappy for the remainder of the day.
Coolio, too. Coolio is the star. Is it true I said that?
Jason Voorhees
Jason X is the most infamous horror movie sequel where the villain goes to space. Jason Voorhees is the man, the myth, the legend. How he got into space, it doesn't matter. Why he's in space, no one cares. All that matters is that Jason is in space and ready to wreak havoc.
I think it's fun to watch Jason X for the Easter eggs and references to other Friday the 13th movies, as well as to see how he becomes Uber Jason.
While this movie isn't everyone's bag, it's a terrific viewing for horror movie enthusiasts who adore campy, cheesy, slasher pictures.
